QR Code for Airbnb: WiFi, Guide, Reviews, Check-In

Airbnb hosts have a unique challenge: you need to communicate everything — WiFi password, house rules, local tips, check-out instructions — to guests who arrive at different times, often without meeting you in person. A set of well-placed QR codes handles all of this.

WiFi (The Must-Have)

The first thing every guest does after arriving: connect to WiFi. A QR code on the desk, nightstand, or welcome card lets them connect instantly without typing your 16-character WPA password.

Create a WiFi QR code at qree.app — select the WiFi tab, enter your network name and password. Print it on a card or frame it. See our WiFi QR code guide.

Placement: Where guests first sit down. The desk, the coffee table, or the kitchen counter. A framed card with "WiFi" as the header and the QR below is clean and permanent.

Welcome Guide

Replace the thick binder nobody reads with a single QR code linking to a digital guide.

Host the guide on Notion, Google Sites, or a simple page on your website. Include house rules, appliance instructions (coffee machine, washing machine, smart TV, thermostat), emergency contacts and nearest hospital, parking instructions, garbage and recycling guide, check-out procedures, and nearby groceries and pharmacies.

Use a dynamic QR code. You'll update this guide constantly — new tips, seasonal info, updated rules. The QR on the welcome card never changes.

Placement: On a welcome card visible upon entry. "Welcome! Scan for everything you need to know about this place."

Local Recommendations

A QR linking to a curated list of your favorite local spots: restaurants, cafes, parks, attractions, markets, and hidden gems. Guests love personal recommendations over generic tourist guides.

Host on Google Maps (create a custom list and share the link), a Notion page, or your website. Organize by category: eating, drinking, activities, transportation.

This gets you reviews. Guests who follow your recommendations and have a great experience associate that experience with your listing. They mention it in reviews: "The host's restaurant recommendations were amazing."

Review Request

A QR code on the departure card or near the exit: "Enjoyed your stay? We'd love a review." Link to your Airbnb listing review page.

The best time to ask: check-out day, when the experience is fresh and the guest is satisfied. A small card left on the counter the night before departure: "Thank you for staying! If you enjoyed it, a review helps us host more guests like you."

Placement: On the kitchen counter (where guests see it on the last morning) or near the front door (last thing they see before leaving).

Check-In Instructions

For self check-in properties, a QR code on the lockbox, building entrance, or exterior of the property linking to step-by-step check-in instructions with photos.

Include the door code (or link to a page where you update the code for each guest), parking spot location, which floor and apartment number, and any tricky locks or doors with video instructions.

Separate from the general guide. Check-in instructions should be their own QR/page because guests need them before they're inside and connected to WiFi. Make sure the check-in page is lightweight and loads fast on mobile data.

Check-Out Instructions

A QR in the kitchen or on the departure card linking to check-out instructions: what to do with keys, garbage, towels, and dishes. Keep it simple — bullet points, not paragraphs.

Appliance Instructions

Individual QR codes on or near complex appliances. A QR on the washing machine linking to a 30-second video showing which buttons to press. A QR on the smart TV explaining how to connect to Netflix. A QR on the espresso machine with step-by-step photos.

This eliminates the most common guest messages: "How does the washing machine work?"

Tips for Airbnb QR Codes

Frame them. A framed QR card looks permanent and intentional. A loose printed card looks temporary and gets thrown away.

Test in your own listing. Walk through as a guest. Connect to WiFi via QR. Open the guide. Follow the check-in instructions. If anything is confusing, fix it.

Multiple QR codes, clear labels. Don't make one QR do everything. Separate QR for WiFi, separate for guide, separate for recommendations. Label each clearly.

Dynamic codes always. You will update everything — passwords, guides, check-in procedures. Dynamic QR codes save you from reprinting.
